The establishment of the
Carbon Trade and Management Agency (BP3I TNK) by the Indonesian government is a
strategic move to regulate the governance of Measurement, Reporting, and
Verification (MRV), which is crucial for developing carbon projects and creating
high-quality, integrity-driven carbon credits. BP3I TNK is expected to provide
governance that is swift, affordable, integrated with blockchain technology,
and transparent, all while being science-based. This will support the creation
of high-quality green projects both within and beyond the National Registry
Standard Methodology (SRN), such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), Biochar,
and EV Chargers.
Brian Pramudita, Secretary
General of the Association of Carbon Emission Experts Indonesia (ACEXI) and
Managing Partner at BATS Consulting, stated that ACEXI is ready to support the
role of BP3I TNK by providing competent experts aligned with global needs. “At
ACEXI, we are committed to producing experts with deep technical knowledge and
the ability to adapt to evolving global technology and regulations, which is
crucial for supporting high-quality MRV governance,” said Brian, who is also
known as the Managing Partner at BATS Consulting.
With appropriate
regulations and strong governance from BP3I TNK, Indonesia can ensure that
carbon projects within the country not only meet international standards but
also set an example in creating high-quality, integrity-based carbon credits.
Brian emphasized that ACEXI will continue to play an active role in supporting
the government’s efforts to develop a transparent and sustainable carbon
market.
