ACEXI kicked off the new year with its first roundtable discussion, marking a
strategic move to address key issues related to climate change and carbon
trading in Indonesia. The event was attended by ACEXIs board and members, most
of whom are experienced practitioners in the field of climate change.
One of the main agendas was
to receive updates from a former director of the Ministry of Environment and
Forestry (KLHK) regarding the governments actions in addressing climate
change, including the progress of carbon trading implementation in Indonesia.
However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the speaker was unable to attend.
As an alternative, the
discussion focused on the experiences and perspectives of ACEXI’s board members
on the challenges of carbon trading in Indonesia. Key topics included
regulatory harmonization, the readiness of business actors, technical barriers
in emissions measurement, and opportunities for collaboration with the private
sector.
The meeting also served as
an opportunity to strengthen relationships among members while discussing
ACEXIs major plans for 2025. The board announced that the first anniversary of
ACEXIs founding would be celebrated in mid-January 2025. This event will
provide a moment to reflect on the organization’s achievements and reinforce
collaboration.
Additionally, another
significant agenda has been planned for August 2025, focusing on expanding
ACEXIs impact and influence in supporting Indonesias carbon emissions
reduction targets. The meeting concluded with renewed enthusiasm and a
collective commitment to positioning ACEXI as a strategic partner for the
government, private sector, and society in the transition to a low-carbon
economy.
