Bank Mandiri held an event
themed Mandiri ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) Festival as one
of its pillars of support for the transition mission towards Indonesia Net
Zero Emission (NZE) 2060.
This festival is held
in a hybrid manner as a realization of the commitment
in achieving operational NZE 2030, financing emissions 2060, and empowering
digipreneurship by prioritizing ESG principles.
In implementing ESG
principles, Bank Mandiri applies three main pillars.
First, the pillar of sustainable
operation which is implemented with various initiatives and products that
are sustainable. On this occasion, Bank Mandiri officially launched Digital Carbon Tracking
which was accessed through the
esg.bankmandiri.co.id website.
"This initiative makes
Bank Mandiri the first bank in Indonesia with the implementation of Digital Carbon Tracking.
From this digital carbon footprint, we also strengthen our commitment to
continue to strive to reduce ESG-based emissions that have been carried out
since 2019," said Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi,
Wednesday (12/7).
Through this Digital
Carbon Tracking channel,
all Bank Mandiri stakeholders can directly
monitor the carbon footprint generated and emissions that have been
successfully reduced from Bank Mandiris central operations to the branch
level.
The calculation of the
operational carbon footprint of this red-plate bank is divided into three
emission scopes, namely Fuel (fuel, solar generators,
coolers), Electricity
(electricity) and Bizz Travel (business
travel, paper logistics, and others).
Digital Carbon Tracking
will make it easier for stakeholders to monitor in real-time the amount
of carbon produced and emissions successfully reduced by Bank Mandiri
operationally.
The issuance of sustainable cards issued is one of Bank
Mandiris efforts in overcoming plastic waste which is one of the serious
problems in Indonesia.
Second, the Sustainable
Banking pillar with a focus on
accelerating Indonesias Green Economy through the development of sustainable
financing and financial products. Bank Mandiri has issued Sustainability Bond
2021, Green Bond 2023, and ESG Report.
"Green Loan and
Sustainability Linked Loan distribution, the launch of ESG-based mutual fund
products by Mandiri Investasi (Mandiri Group) and marketed on Livin Investasi
since 2021," he added.
To encourage a low-emission
vehicle ecosystem, Bank Mandiri collaborates with subsidiaries, Mandiri Tunas Finance
and Mandiri Utama Finance in creating an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem
through EV features in Livin Sukha and EV Promotion in Livin and Kopra until
August 2023.
The third pillar is
Sustainable Beyond Banking. Bank Mandiri strives to build and instill ESG
awareness, both for internal, customer, and all stakeholders.
"Mandiri ESG Festival
is a delivery of Bank Mandiris commitment, actions, and plans in implementing
ESG principles.
This activity involves thousands of participants from diverse stakeholders,
from regulators, the business world, customers, to Mandirian," he
continued.
