In order to support efforts
to accelerate air quality improvement in the Jabodetabek area, the Ministry of
Industry (Kemenperin) issued Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Industry
Number 2 of 2023 concerning Reporting on Industrial Sector Exhaust Gas Emission
Control in the Provinces of DKI Jakarta, West Java and Banten.
The SE is intended as a
basis and reference in reporting the control of industrial sector exhaust
emissions for industrial companies and companies located in industrial estates
in the region.
Head of the Industrial
Services Standardization and Policy Agency (BSKJI) of the Ministry of Industry
Doddy Rahadi on Monday (28/8) revealed that through the reporting that will be
carried out by industrial companies, the Ministry of Industry can collect data
to analyze and identify how many industries have plants in the production
process.
He continued to explain
that efforts to control exhaust emissions need to be carried out through
identification of the main source as a basis for handling priorities,
coordination and collaboration of stakeholders, supervision and guidance
according to authority, and educational publications.
"Strategic steps are
needed because this requires a long time, of course not violating each other
and needing a joint solution," said Doddy.
The Ministry of Industry
hopes that reporting efforts to control exhaust emissions in the industrial
sector can be one of the solutions to control exhaust emissions.
The scope of the SE
Menperin includes the obligation of Industrial Companies and Industrial Estate
Companies to implement the green industry and submit reports through the
National Industrial Information System (SIINas) portal and reporting
verification mechanisms.
"The industry conducts
periodic reporting once a week on Thursday through the National Industrial
Information System portal in accordance with the reporting procedures as stated
in the Appendix to the SE Menperin," said Binoni Tio A. Napitupulu,
Director of Resilience and Industrial Business Climate of the Ministry of
Industry.
"If emissions are
equal to or above the threshold, we will conduct follow-up in the form of
monitoring, inspection, verification, audit, and surveillance," he
continued.
In this case, the Ministry
of Industry will continue to provide assistance to the industrial sector and
industrial estates so that they can fulfill the provisions that have been
regulated in maintaining their industrial activities to continue to support the
industry so that it can move to spur the wheels of the national economy.
In addition, the Ministry
of Industry will strive to encourage all companies to implement green industry,
as well as implement environmentally friendly and sustainable standards.
